Please visit the Youtube playlist with a set of short video tutorials that help instructors build online courses in Blackboard:

Blackboard Learn with the Ultra Experience Tutorials - Instructors - YouTube

LockDown browser for exams can be downloaded from below links:

Also, you can find a quick explanation of basic features and why it's used in our institution.

LockDown browser is configured to be used by ADA University community only, so if you have a version from a different source in your computer, please download and reinstall it again from the link provided.

Internet connection quality is a big factor:

  • Use a wired connection wherever possible

  • If on Wi-Fi, position your device as close to the Wi-Firouter as possible

  • Shutdown background applications which may cause congestion on your computer and the network (software updates, antivirus updates, video streaming downloads). Also, close other applications which may be using CPU resources which could otherwise be used by WebRTC. This may have cognitive as well as technical benefits since closing background applications/browser tabs will, generally, help participants to focus.

Also essential part plays what are you sharing:

  • Use Video sparingly, when it makes sense from a pedagogical sense (beginning and end perhaps)

  • Sharee PowerPoint content as a File Upload rather than via application sharing

  • When sharing applications, size the application window so that it is no bigger than necessary

  • Don't allow students to use webcam if not necessary.

Prerequisites:

  • WebWork and Blackboard courses should be available.

Create an assignment in WebWork:

Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1kNkxTcxU4

Adding WebWork assignment into the Blackboard Course:

  1. Copy Assignment URL from WebWork. (example: https://webwork.ada.edu.az/webwork2/test_course/assignment_1)
  2. In Blackboard course that you want to integrate with WebWork, go to Content page -> Click on Plus icon to add a new content item -> click on "Create".
  3. Click on Teaching tool with LTI connection.
  4. Fill the form:
  • Put a name for the link. (example: Assingment 1)
  • Paste the copied assinement URL from the step 1 into Configuration URL.
  • Check "Open in a new Window" (optional).
  • Check "Create gradebook entry for this item". It will enable Grading for this course. Grade column will be created automatically. When disabled, students may have technical issues with connecting to the WebWork assingment.
  • Change Hidden from Students / Visible to students accordingly .
  • Set "Due date" if needed.
  • Add "Description" if needed.
  • Submit.

When students will open the link in their Content page, they will be redirected to WebWork and users will be automatically created. WebWork will send student's total score by percentage back to Blackboard Learn, and you will be able to see it in Grade center.

Using Safe Exam Browser during exams:

If you add uppercase SEB to the assignment name in WebWork (for example: SEB Final Exam) the assignment will be available though Safe Exam Browser only.

Safe exam Browser can be downloaded from the official web page.

ADA University configuration for safe exam Browser is here.

Students will download the browser first and install, then they need to download the configuration file and open it using Safe Exam Browser. Configuration will default to student's SEB version and from now on when student clicks on SEB, it will open ADA University's Blackboard instance.

It is recommended to provide students with guidance about usage of WebWork, and SEB (if it is going to be utilized) in Blackbaord Course.
